REDBLACKS Fined for 2025 Cap Violation

The Canadian Football League (CFL) has announced that they have fined the Ottawa REDBLACKS organization for exceeding the 2025 Salary Expenditure Cap of $6,062,365

The Ottawa REDBLACKS have been fined $18,002, a dollar-for-dollar amount of what the organization went over the limit. This fine does not impact the 2026 Canadian Draft order and Ottawa remain holding the first overall pick.

The CFL has confirmed that the Edmonton Elks and Winnipeg Blue Bombers will hold the 19th and 20th pick respectively as part of the National Snaps Reward System. This system is designed to reward the top two clubs with the most amount of National snaps during the previous season.

The 2026 CFL Canadian Draft will take place on April 28, beginning at 7 p.m. ET. The first two rounds will air live on TSN, with rounds 3-8 streaming exclusively on TSN+.
