Limit the big plays
Calgary Stampeders were able to beat the BC Lions in large part because of Peyton Logan ability to flip the field on Punt & Kickoff Returns. Logan had 107 Punt Return Yards and 108 Kickoff Return Yards in Week 7.
Special teams aren’t the only area Ottawa needs to limit big plays. With five Defensive Backs on the Injured List, Ottawa is sporting a rather young defensive backfield. The front four will need to be able to consistently put pressure on Maier as the linebackers will be required to help more in coverage.
Win the Turnover Battle
Jake Maier and Dru Brown have struggled to keep the ball out of defenders hands this season. Maier has 5 interceptions and Brown has 4.
This difference in this game will be if the REDBLACKS are able to keep the ball off the turf. They enter Week 7 with a league-leading 7 fumbles.
The defence needs to step up and give the offence extra possessions while the offence cannot be giving Jake Maier & co extra possessions.
