Assiniboia Downs (ASD) has another seven-race card scheduled for Tuesday (June 11) evening and it kicks off at 7:35 p.m. CDT. The Jackpot Pick 5 wager starts in the third race and runs through to the end of the card while the $1 Pick 4 with a $50,000 guaranteed pool starts in the fourth race. The final two races will both feature a $1 Classic Hi-5 wager as well. All seven races are set for a 5 ½ furlong distance.

Monday Recap
Unfortunately, I had no big winners yesterday. The Jackpot Pick 5 paid out $97.57 based on a $.20 wager. Yesterday’s play had four of the five legs correct. However, five out of the seven winners were in my top three selections.

Longshot Watch
At 5/1 morning line odds, Big And Bold has a good chance of upsetting the field in the fifth race. The three-year-old gelding won his first race last week which was 5 ½ furlong in distance. Even though winning has been hard to come by, he has already eight starts this year which is the most of any in the field. Most of the races have been at greater distance and Big And Bold hasn’t been able to hold. Antonio Whitehall has seemed to have figured the rookie racer out at ASD. Jerry Gourneau trains the Breaking Lucky sired horse and he will be eying his 11th win of the year. Gourneau currently sits atop the table with the most training wins at ASD so far this summer.
Best Bet
The best bet of the night comes in the finale. Princess Belle has already made four starts this year at the recently closed, Golden Gate Fields in California. She has yet to finish in the top three but slowly improves each start. The three-year-old filly had a decent rookie year as she won one of her three starts and also had a second-place finish. As she continues her journey through her sophomore year, the fields at ASD should be way more kind to her. Trainer Mike Taphorn will be eying his fourth win of the meet as he currently sits at a 38% strike rate.
