Assiniboia Downs (ASD) has another seven-race card scheduled for Monday (June 10) evening and it kicks off at 7:35 p.m. CDT. The Jackpot Pick 5 wager starts in the third race and runs through to the end of the card while the $1 Pick 4 with a $50,000 guaranteed pool starts in the fourth race. The final two races will both feature a $1 Classic Hi-5 wager as well.

Best Bet

Chicago’s Gray (Tapwrit) is the 8/5 morning line favourite in the seventh race and final race. The four-year-old gelding won three of his ten starts last year and started the new season with a second-place finish. He’s been racing at six furlongs and longer so the distance of the race shouldn’t cause any problems. Antonio Whitehall will be aboard the Lise Pruitt-trained Chicago’s Grey. Pruitt has three training wins so far in the meet but the winners are often longshots.

Jockey Focus

The current top jockey this year at ASD in both wins and winning percentage is Prayven Badrie. He leads the way with nine wins in 30 starts which rounds to about 30% average.  Badrie is scheduled for five rides Monday night, and he will be teamed up with a couple of favourites.  His first mount comes in the third race, and he will be aboard the six-year-old mare, She’s My Priority. Badrie will look to play spoiler in the last race with Blazing Bo. The four-year-old gelding had a good 2023 with three wins in seven starts and finished in the top three five times. Badrie has earned five of his wins so far this season not being with the betting favourite. The average win payoff for Badrie-ridden horses is $6.70.
