The Ottawa REDBLACKS have announced the following roster moves as they continue to work through camp.
The club has announced that they have signed American Quarterback Max Duggan on Tuesday, the TCU product was released on May 9 by the Toronto Argonauts ahead of Main Camp opening.
Duggan spent part of the 2025 season under Ryan Dinwiddie in Toronto, appearing in 3 games for the club. He threw for 109 yards and one touchdown while completing 13 of 17 pass attempts.
Prior to joining the CFL, Duggan was drafted by the Los Angeles Chargers in the 7th round, 239th overall in 2023, would spend two training camps with the club before moving on the UFL where he suited up for the St. Louis Battlehawks for two seasons (2024-2025).
He spent 4 years with the TCU Horned Frogs, over 47 games, he would throw for 9,618 yards, 73 Touchdowns, 28 Interceptions with a 60.08% completion Percentage (739/1225). During his senior year in 2022 he would win various awards including the Davey O’Brien award as the nation’s top quarterback, Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year, Second-team All American and First-Team All-Big 12.
In a corresponding move, the club has released American Quarterback Hajj-Malik Williams (UNLV).
Williams originally signed with the REDBLACKS back in September of 2025 before being released two weeks later. The UNLV Product was undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft, he did attend the Last Vegas Raider Rookie Camp.
The club also announced that Offensive Lineman Gregory MacKellar has retired from the CFL.
MacKellar signed with the REDBLACKS shortly after Free Agency opened. He played all 18 games for the Edmonton Elks last season. The Timberlea, Nova Scotia Native was drafted by the Toronto Argonauts 6th Overall in the 2022 CFL Draft out of St. Francis Xavier University. He would win 2 Grey Cups with the Argonauts under Ryan Dinwiddie in 2022 and 2024.
