Assiniboia Downs (ASD) has another seven-race card scheduled for Tuesday (June 25) evening and it kicks off at 7:35 p.m. CDT. The Jackpot Pick 5 wager starts in the third race and runs through to the end of the card while the $1 Pick 4 with a $50,000 guaranteed pool starts in the fourth race. The final two races will both feature a $1 Classic Hi-5 wager as well.

The lone 7 furlong race kicks off the Pick 5 in the third race which is a $7,500 Claimers that goes for a purse of $14,800. The other six races are either 5 1/2 or 6 furlongs in distance. The feature race of the night is the $50,000 La Verendrye Stakes. A field of seven will go to battle for the 40th running of the event which will also conclude the night.
Longshot Watch
At 5-1 morning line odds, Majestic Gig could easily upset the first race. The four-year-old filly has one twice this year at Golden Gate in California. She has also finished in the top three four times in her six 2024 starts. This will be her first race at ASD but the move should benefit her. Majestic Gig has been racing at a similar distance her entire career so this shouldn’t be difficult for her. Renaldo Cumberbatch will climb aboard for trainer Wendy Anderson.
Best Bet
The best bet of the night comes in the second race and it’s the heavy favourite, Not Afraid. The six-year-old gelding was nearly perfect last year with four wins in five starts. The only blemish was a sixth-place finish but otherwise wise he was winning at the 5 1/2 furlong distance. Not Afraid has a chance to earn his first win of the summer. His best finish so far was a third place last time out. Timothy Tarasenco teams up with Not Afraid while Carl Anderson trains.
