Assiniboia Downs (ASD) has another seven-race card scheduled for Tuesday (June 18) evening and it kicks off at 7:35 p.m. CDT. The Jackpot Pick 5 wager starts in the third race and runs through to the end of the card while the $1 Pick 4 with a $50,000 guaranteed pool starts in the fourth race. The final two races will both feature a $1 Classic Hi-5 wager as well.
The longest race of the night is 7 furlongs in the sixth race. All the other five races are either 5 1/2 or 6 furlong in distance. The feature race of the night is the $20,000 Maidens three-years old and up in race five. The field of seven will go six furlongs and one horse will leave with their first career win.
Longshot Watch
The longest shot I like to win only comes in at 3/1 morning line odds and it’s the four-year-old filly, Tecate Gold. She draws into the second race of the evening and will have Shavon Belle aboard. In two starts this year, she has a win and a third. Both of her starts came at the 5 1/2 furlong distance and she has shown she knows how to finish near the top in these dashes. Tecate Gold only had two wins last year but also finished in the top three in five of her 12 starts. Belle has one of his two wins this year with Tecate Gold. The duo might not have a huge morning line price but there are a couple of horses that might earn most of the bettor’s attention.
Best Bet
The best bet of the night is the number two horse in race five, Ice Storm. I like this horse enough that he is my only single in my Pick 5 wager. The four-year-old gelding is winless in his career but has amassed two second-place finishes. Both of those have come this year and one was even at ASD. Ronald Ali will climb on and he will look to continue his good summer as well. Carlos Morena trains the gelding and he too has been hot this summer.
